Is it AM or FM? If it is AM, then maybe you need an FM crystal radio. It uses the same diode and variable capacitor as an AM crystal radio, but has something called a resonator tube (a piece of pipe) to capture the FM waves.

I saw your profile: Your favorite movie is Bladerunner...I never knew. If it is...then you should check the BladeRunner WorkPrint (the version I have). It's the copy of the master (minus the do-overs). They showed it to a test audience a year or two before release. The test audience rejected it. So, the theater release was made after several test audience rejections of it.There are 6 versions of BladeRunner. Each a reaction to the test audiences. The first draft "workprint" is much darker and grittier.It is also surreal instead of film-noir. In the film release the floating billboard says "your chance to begin again" in the Work Print it says "Make America Powerful Again". In the theater release replicants are the next stage in robotics. In the Work Print replicants are a manifest of Americas history of slavery and the film has antebellum overtones. Roy and Pris are likened to "field negoes" and Rachael is a "house negro". America also has a government based on assasination and war.The workprint is more artistic, almost to the point of rejecting its purpose of being for Hollywood. Like an Anti-movie movie.I appluade the vision,"movie as museum piece", but that is what got them in trouble.
